SHOWBIZZ: A poignant second season for the characters of Casse-Gueule/ Crash Course

On Tuesday, we had the pleasure of visiting the set of the second season of Casse-gueule, which was on its 22nd day of filming. We talked with the actors on site and with the director Mathieu Cyr, back to our delight, for the continuation of the culinary adventures of Clovis, Ben and Manon.

Everyone we spoke to agreed on one thing: the immense talent of the man who wrote the texts for the second season, author Pierre-Marc Drouin. "We are going off on a tangent with comedy, which is becoming a little dramatic. We go deeper into what the characters have experienced in the past. We're going to meet Manon's father, Clovis' mother, we're going to understand a lot of things," said the director, who has already collaborated with the author on the series Bonne nuit Chuck.

We know that the action will pick up exactly where we left off, which is on that explosive finale where the neighboring restaurant owned by chef Debbie Wang jumps and goes up in smoke. "Unfortunately, we're going to lose the Casse-Gueule, because it was done very badly, the fire at Debbie Wang's house, you'll see why," said Mylène MacKay, who plays Manon. "We're all going to be in shock, it's going to be chaos, and then we're going to be very disappointed and angry about the situation.

The actress also revealed that her character was going to free herself from men and the gaze of others. "It's really a season where she emancipates herself from the men in her life. We will see her interact with her father, with Lacombe, with Clovis, and with a new character played by Denis Bernard who is really great. His name is Gaétan, and he's a great sommelier too, so I'll have some rivalry with him.

As for Clovis, he will experience several challenges, as his interpreter, Émile Schneider, told us. "He's going to try to become a better father, a better friend, a better human. He will come up against a lot of stones. He will still suffer, but he will resurface, and then his creativity will be multiplied.

The arrival of these new characters and the new plots that result from them will therefore allow us to leave the urban environment at times to go to the countryside, as the director pointed out. "We walk between the city and the Bas-Saint-Laurent. It's super beautiful, really. We see changes in color.

Since the dramatic aspect has been further explored by the author, Montreal will be presented to us with even more intensity. "It's raw. It's a little dirtier. A little more street. Which is really interesting, that we don't see enough in Quebec series," explained Émile, who was proud that we showed local products, gardens and nature on screen. "We talked about it with the author a lot beforehand, but it was really close to my heart, that part.

We will be just as salivating in this second season, thanks once again to the talent of chef Antonin Mousseau-Rivard. "He concocts things in his own way. It makes it very, very beautiful and good, because I had the chance to taste it a few times," the director admitted.

A concern that is also very present for Émile, who is entrusted with the task of handling the food on the screen. "I continued to cook throughout the year, to prepare for the fall, to be as ready as possible in the kitchen. So in the image, I think we're going to try to honor the work of the chefs, then the restaurateurs, the people who are in the service business, the people who decide to buy a restaurant, who start a small business. This whole thing, all the human challenges that it entails.

We'll have to wait until the spring of 2027 to see the final result, but we believe that this second season will be particularly tasty, at least according to what Mathieu told us. "We're as good as our last season!
